Due Quach (“Zway Kwok”) is a social entrepreneur and author who combines mindful leadership with science to empower people to master their mind, perform at their peak, and triumph over adversity.
Due and her family came to America as refugees. She grew up in a low-income area of Philadelphia and experienced toxic stress, poverty, prejudice, violence, and crime. A living testimony to resilience and grit, Due graduated at the top of her high school and gained admission to Harvard University.
As a first-generation college student, she overcame the long-term effects of poverty and trauma by turning to neuroscience and developing “mind hacking” techniques which enabled her to graduate from Harvard College with honors and earn an MBA from the Wharton School of Business, build a successful career in management consulting and private equity investments, and now build pioneering social ventures.
To develop a program to empower people to overcome adversity and unlock their potential, Due studied various contemplative traditions in India and other parts of Asia. She then synthesized what she learned from this journey with neuroscience and behavioral economics to create the Calm Clarity Program.
Due’s autobiographical article “Poor and Traumatized at Harvard” was viewed more than 250,000 times and republished in the New York Observer. Her inspiring story has also been featured in the Philadelphia Inquirer, Philly Voice, Streetwise, and the Seattle Times. TarcherPerigee Penguin Random House will release her book, Calm Clarity: How to Use Science to Rewire Your Brain for Greater Wisdom, Fulfillment, and Joy, on May 15, 2018.
Due is also the founding chair and executive director of the Collective Success Network (collectivesuccess.org), a new Philadelphia based nonprofit that supports low-income, first-generation college students to achieve their academic, personal, and professional aspirations. Collective Success connects students with professional mentors, provides programming to prepare students to enter professional career paths, and collaborates with the wider business community to create innovative solutions to increase college success rates and build a socioeconomically diverse talent pipeline.
